Overview:
The Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI)/ Denials Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational planning, design, implementation, and oversight of UF Health Shands CDI Program and Denials Management Program. The CDI program aims to improve the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation to accurately reflect patient care in adherence to industry best practices.
Management of coding/clinical denials experience highly desirable. At least 2 years previous managerial experience required. Experience with electronic health record systems and systems implementation required. Minimum 3 years of recent clinical experience in a hospital setting.
Utilization Management, Case Management, Quality Improvement or Inpatient Coding experience preferred. Must have strong knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS and proficiency with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and coding/grouping software.
Able to work well with minimal supervision. Able to communicate clearly both written and verbally. Able to generate reports that present audit results in a clear manner. Able to meet deadlines and respond well to frequent changes in regulation.
Able to maintain positive and productive relationships with internal and external teams and customers. Able to work independently and be a self-starter. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a non-frequent driver.

The Denials Management Program aims to analyze root causes to mitigate future denials. The CDI/Denials Manager will develop strong partnerships and interface with executive management, clinicians, case management, coding, and revenue cycle to fulfill the mission and vision of the CDI/Denials Programs while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification: Registered Nurse (RN) required or Internal Medical Graduate with Medical School Diploma required. Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) preferred. Minimum of 5 years. experience in Clinical Documentation Integrity.Management of coding/clinical denials experience highly desirable.
