OVERVIEW ::

The Assistant Garage Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring that all vehicles are well-maintained, compliant with regulations and utilized efficiently. This role involves managing vehicle acquisition and disposal, coordinating maintenance schedules, and implementing cost-saving measures.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS ::

Assistant Fleet Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company's fleet of vehicles.
  • Develop and implement strategies for vehicle acquisition, utilization, and disposal.
  • Monitor fleet performance and optimize the use of vehicles to ensure maximum efficiency.

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance and repairs for all fleet vehicles.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Establish relationships with service providers and negotiate service contracts.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all vehicles comply with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any issues promptly.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the fleet budget, including costs for fuel, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and track expenses to stay within budget.
  • Analyze and report on fleet expenditures and identify opportunities for cost reduction.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle registrations, insurance, and inspections.
  • Prepare and present reports on fleet performance, expenses, and other key metrics.
  • Utilize fleet management software to track and analyze data.

Team Management:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of fleet maintenance staff and drivers.
  • Provide training and support to ensure high standards of vehicle operation and maintenance.
  • Address any personnel issues and ensure team effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS ::

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or a related experience.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with fleet management software and tools.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and regulatory compliance.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Automotive Fleet Manager - CAFM) are a plus.
  • This role typically involves working in an office environment with occasional visits to vehicle maintenance facilities.
  • May require occasional travel to manage fleet operations or attend industry events.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ::

  • When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consist of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • May handle products 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
  • May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the company.
