Senior Accountant

The Opportunity:

RS&H is currently seeking a senior accountant to join our team in Jacksonville, FL.

This role performs a variety of accounting functions, including those requiring advanced skills and knowledge of accounting principles and concepts. This role may be responsible for reviewing the work of less experienced accountants and serving as a resource and mentor for questions and escalations.

This role works independently, with limited supervision, applying advanced knowledge and the ability to evaluate and propose adaptations to standard methodologies and procedures for non-routine components of assignments; problems faced are typically difficult and sometimes complex.

• Documents financial transactions of various types by entering accounting data into the General Ledger (GL). Prepares GL reconciliations and investigations of unaccounted-for differences.
• Prepares financial statements and financial reporting that clearly display the firm's profits, equity, and cash flow. Oversees external audit assistance of financial statements.
• Prepares and reconciles analysis related to complex accounting transactions including accounting for leases under ASC 842, judgment-based accruals, medical IBNR, Mergers & Acquisition purchase accounting, etc.
• Answers accounting-related questions by researching and interpreting accounting regulations and policy and applying best practices to identify innovative solutions.
• Manages financial and accounting software, including identifying opportunities for process and system efficiencies.
• Proactively identifies opportunities for process efficiencies and enhancements, as well as needed policies and protocols to ensure compliance with GAAP accounting principles.
• Provide technical guidance support to the Controllership team.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited program.
• 4+ years of relevant industry experience
• Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications.
• The role requires proficiency in GAAP accounting rules, auditing, revenue recognition, and financial statements.
• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong organizational, prioritization, and oral and written communication skills.
• Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA certification and/or master’s degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of Deltek ERP System (Vision or Vantagepoint preferred).
