DESCRIPTION**
We are looking for a talented **School to Work - Automotive Technician (Student)** to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.
**In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:**
+ **Support Engineering** : By building electric-drive-axle, electrical components, and modules, and supporting the construction of test benches and test vehicles, you’ll directly contribute to the development and testing of innovative products.
+ **Ensure Compliance** : Developing and maintaining the laboratory environment and conducting automation testing using CAN tools and other data acquisition tools will ensure that testing processes are efficient and compliant with industry standards.
+ **Adhere to Policies** : Ensuring all lab safety protocols and policies are followed will help maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
+ **Support Team Members** : Assisting team members with controls setup, system integration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving will foster a collaborative and efficient team dynamic.
+ **Manage Reports** : Understanding and assisting in controls automation testing and generating test reports that align with the V-model structure will ensure accurate and reliable documentation of test results.
+ **Contribute to Engineering Projects** : Assisting with special projects, such as developing new products for electric drive vehicles, will drive innovation and support the company’s growth in the electric vehicle market.
+ **Maintain Records** : Coordinating and maintaining laboratory test setups, materials, and component inventories will ensure that resources are well-managed and readily available for testing and development.
+ **Promote Continuous Improvement** : By actively participating in the development and maintenance of testing environments and processes, you’ll contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and product quality.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**To be successful in this role you will need the following:**
+ **Pursue Education** : Continue studying for your associate degree in electrical vehicle systems, electrification, automated guided vehicles (AGV), and Programming Logic Controllers (PLC). This will provide you with the technical knowledge and skills needed for the role.
+ **Communicate Effectively** : Utilize your outstanding oral and written communication skills to clearly convey information and complete technical documents and test reports. Clear communication ensures that everyone understands the tasks and goals.
+ **Proficiency in MS Office Suite** : Apply your working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook to create reports, manage data, prepare presentations, and communicate effectively. This will help you stay organized and efficient.
+ **Attention to Detail** : Pay close attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and compliance with policies and engineering standards. This minimizes errors and maintains high-quality work.
+ **Adaptability** : Be flexible and adaptable to handle various projects and adjust to changing priorities and needs. This allows you to effectively manage multiple tasks and respond to dynamic work environments.
+ **Interpersonal Skills** : Develop strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with colleagues, support team members, and foster a collaborative work environment. This enhances teamwork and productivity.
+ **Continuous Learning** : Stay updated on the latest engineering technology and safety practices in the electric vehicle field. This ensures you remain knowledgeable and can contribute to innovative solutions.
**Education/Experience:**
Pursuing an associate degree in the electrical vehicle systems field, electrification, automated guided vehicles (AVG), and Programming Logic Controllers (PLC).
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Additional Information:**
Mechanical Experience with building automotive harnesses, ability to solder, populate and depopulate circuit boards, multimeters, automotive hand and power tools a plus.
Software Experience with vehicle diagnostic tools through OBDII connection to USB computer laptop is helpful.

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
