Overview:

McConnell Golf is seeking a Clubhouse/Food and Beverage Manager to join our team at Holston Hills Country Club. The position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Club’s daily operations with a strong focus on food & beverage operations throughout the Club including member dining, member events, activities, turn shack, pool snack bar, banquet, and catering functions, etc.

The Clubhouse Manager is also responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising the staff; implementing and monitoring department budgets; managing and maintaining the highest standards of products and services while maximizing profitability through cost and labor control and meeting revenue goals; and applying relevant marketing principles to assure that the wants and needs of Club members and guests are consistently exceeded.

The position will work closely with the club's General Manager. Responsible for operation of all aspects of the club in the absence of the General Manager and perform specific tasks as requested by the Manager or Corporate Leadership.

Conjunction: Director of Golf, Director of Agronomy, Membership Director, Accounting Manager

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations:

  • - Experience and knowledge in Food and Beverage Operations
  • Ability to function as club’s general manager during his/her absence
  • Knowledge of management requirements for housekeeping, engineering, maintenance and repair, and security functions at the club
  • Must demonstrate appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations
  • Highly organized and detail oriented for the operational success of social events
  • Provide a professional and energetic atmosphere in the daily operations of the club and all social events

Job Summary:

Work closely with the Club Management Team. Responsible for operation of all aspects of the club house. Serves as the Food and Beverage Manager.

Responsible for club’s dining services and all food and beverage production throughout the club. Directly supervises the Executive Chef, Restaurant Manager, and managers of all other outlets such as snack bars, turn shack, etc. Plans, implements, and monitors departmental budgets.

Hires, trains, and supervises subordinates and applies relevant marketing principles to assure that the wants and needs of club members and guests are consistently exceeded.

Job Tasks/Duties Clubhouse Manager:

  • - Assists General Manager with managing all operations of the clubhouse
  • Approves budgets, staffing, and general operating procedures and other plans for all departments under his/her supervision
  • Directs the work of all departments under his/her supervision
  • Works directly with the Activities Director and F&B Department to book, plan, budget, organize and administer all social events and weddings, both member and non-member
  • Monitors the budget and directs corrective action procedures as necessary to help assure that financial goals are attained
  • Functions as an Administrative link between departments
  • Monitors internal cost control procedures
  • Plans and coordinates training and professional development programs for club personnel including self
  • Develops and implements long-range strategic and annual business plans, operating reports, forecasts, and budgets
  • Maintains safety conditions and employees’ conformance with safety procedures; updates emergency plans and procedures, and assures that effective training for these programs is conducted in all departments
  • Maintains contact with members and helps to assure maximum member satisfaction
  • Receives and resolves complaints from club members, guests, and employees in conjunction with the General Manager
  • Coordinates all clubhouse current and future capital planning, remodeling, construction, and repair
  • Participates in ongoing facility inspections throughout the clubhouse to assure that cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and other standards are consistently attained
  • Attends management staff meetings
  • Serves as a club representative within the community
  • Counsels with other managers and employees about employee grievances and complaints; directs problem correction where possible
  • Monitors labor for supervising departments; evaluates scheduled and actual labor hours and costs
  • Oversees daily clubhouse operations
  • Works with Human Resource Department staff to develop long-term staffing needs for the clubhouse department
  • Ensures all legal requirements are consistently followed
  • Monitors employee dress codes as applicable
  • Conducts training and other meetings with department staff

Job Tasks/Duties Food and Beverage Manager:

  • - Develops an operating budget for each of the department’s revenue outlets; monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budgeted sales and cost goals are attained.
  • Develops a capital budget for all necessary food and beverage equipment and recommends facility renovation needs.
  • Responsible for performance of the Food and Beverage Department
  • Ensures that adequate cash/member charge procedures are followed and that documentation is reported in an accurate and timely manner
  • Responsible for proper cash and charge procedures, guest check analysis, tip reports, ticket controls, and daily sales reports and analysis
  • Assists in recruitment, training, supervision, and termination of food and beverage staff
  • Helps plan and approves the organizational chart and staffing and scheduling plans
  • Assures that effective orientation and training for new staff and professional development activities for experienced staff are planned and implemented
  • Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
  • BA/BS in Club/Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in Food & Beverage operations
  • Experience with payroll cost controls, Microsoft Word/Excel, and Club Essentials or other similar club POS systems
  • Possess food safety and alcoholic beverage certification
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team leader, manage employees, and handle members/guests in a diplomatic, constructive and professional manner
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations
  • Must possess exceptional organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and high internal standards of quality and service
  • Must be able to effectively hire, train, motivate, discipline, and terminate employees
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels
  • Proven ability to diagnose problems, respond to complaints, and increase food and beverage and other operational efficiencies
  • Excellent listening skills, oral communication skills, and positive interpersonal skills are required
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions
  • Independent mobility throughout the clubhouse and areas of operation
