Dental Hygienist - DHY24-17549

Location: Cheverly, MD (20785)

Responsibilities:

• Assess oral health by examining teeth and gums, identifying abnormalities or conditions.
• Record medical histories and oral health status, ensuring accurate and updated dental records.
• Perform periodontal charting and monitor gum health for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis.
• Conduct teeth cleanings, removing plaque, tartar, and stains.
• Apply fluoride treatments and preventive agents to strengthen enamel and prevent cavities.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and the use of oral health tools.
• Take and analyze X-rays to detect cavities, gum disease, and other dental conditions.
• Collaborate with dentists to diagnose and develop treatment plans based on assessments and radiographs.
• Maintain detailed patient records, documenting treatments, responses, and care plans.
• Manage patient appointments and ensure consistent follow-up visits.
• Order and maintain dental supplies to ensure materials are available for treatments.
• Adhere to infection control protocols to sterilize instruments and maintain a safe, clean clinical environment.
• Work closely with dentists and team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with dental assistants, office staff, and other healthcare providers for coordinated care.
• Provide emotional support and apply calming techniques to ease patient anxiety during treatments.

Qualifications:

• Licensed Dental Hygienist (state-specific certification required)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in patient care and dental procedures
• Knowledge of infection control standards and safety protocols
