Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants is seeking a Corporate Counsel with 3 years of experience and an active license to practice law in Illinois to join our team at the Lettuce Corporate Office. Experience in a law firm and/or a focus on the restaurant and hospitality industry is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide multi-jurisdictional legal counsel and related business advice to Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ (Lettuce) operations and corporate teams, including Lettuce’s General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Executive Leadership and Partners
• Provide expert business advice and legal counsel in support of Lettuce’s businesses on a wide variety of legal and internal compliance matters, including without limitation by example, commercial transactions and contract management, labor and employment law, data privacy, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, record retention requirements, corporate governance and records, real estate, merger and acquisition transactions
• Draft, negotiate and review contracts, including without limitation by example customer, vendor, real estate transactions and third-party service agreements
• Consult and collaborate with Lettuce operations and corporate leaders on routine conflict and dispute resolution
• Assist Lettuce operations and corporate leaders in developing, implementing, monitoring and enforcing compliance with internal policies, procedures and training programs to drive compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and internal policies and processes
• Conduct legal research, prepare documents and offer guidance to operations and corporate leaders on a wide variety of legal issues
• Interpret laws, rulings and regulations to determine applicability to Lettuce’s businesses
• Work with outside counsel in specialty areas as required
• Maintain availability to perform duties outside standard business hours on occasion as needed, including evenings and weekends
• Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
• Multitask calmly and effectively under pressure
• Occasionally retrieve and distribute files or office supplies weighing up to 10 pounds

Qualifications:

• Possess Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in Illinoi
• 3 years of experience in a legal setting, ideally a law firm; experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in handling complex legal issues relevant to the industry (such as contract law, employment law, intellectual property law, and regulatory compliance), with a working knowledge of the tax consequences of specific transactions and deal structures
• Proven track record of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Skilled in negotiating as well as analytical and strategic thinking

Salary Range: USD $150,000.00 - USD $175,000.00 /Yr.
