The Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a part-time marketing intern (4-8 Hours/week) to join its growing team. OTC works to ensure the translation and transfer of novel Nationwide Children’s technologies into the public sector so they can have their maximum impact on pediatric healthcare.

What you will do:

Through its partnership with the IC and MPDC, the marketing intern will provide support to the marketing coordinator, IC and MPDC and will gain exposure creating social media content (graphics and copy), generating follower leads and communicating marketing opportunities with industry partners, creating internal and external flyers, and coordinating monthly Innovation Center Forums.

The Innovation Center (IC) is a collaborative organization of clinicians, researchers, and engineers looking to improve the quality of patient care at Nationwide Children’s Hospital through medical device design and innovation. Through needs-focused development, the NIC offers a unique opportunity to support innovators by working closely with their teams to bring their medical device concepts to life.

We are a resource for technical, educational and commercialization support, giving Nationwide Children’s clinicians, researchers and staff the tools to improve patient care.

The Midwest Pediatric Device Consortium (MPDC) is a pediatric medical device accelerator comprised of a hub of Ohio children’s hospitals, academic institutions, and industry partners committed to advancing medical device development in pediatrics nationally.

Supported by the FDA Office of Orphan Product Development, the MPDC provides pediatric device innovation grants to support the advancement of innovations in technology and devices specifically developed for use in the pediatric population.

Responsibilities:

  • Create social media content (graphics and copy).
  • Generate follower leads and communicate marketing opportunities with industry partners.
  • Create internal and external flyers.
  • Coordinate monthly Innovation Center Forums.
  • Interview inventors for social media posts.
  • Other marketing duties as assigned.

What you will need:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Good organizational, confidentiality, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Canva, on the job training available in lieu of experience.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current undergraduate or a graduate student in the area of marketing
Completed, or near completion, of a degree in marketing, or related discipline
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Detail oriented and a fast learner; capable of working independently and meeting deadlines
  • Skilled in Internet research, compiling information in a meaningful and efficient manner

and experience conducting literature searches

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • 100% Kneeling / reaching

  • 33% Lifting / carrying weight 0-20 pounds for 1-5 minutes
  • 33% Pushing a cart with weight 50-100 pounds for 5-10 minutes
