Product Sustainability Lead

Job Description: Manage Scope 3 downstream carbon emissions declarations & certifications. Conduct life cycle analysis & publish EPDs for all main product lines, moving them to a digital platform as requested by customers. Integrate with product strategy & engineering to provide feedback through product development to ensure lowest reasonable embodied/operational carbon per product.
Manage documentation of material transparency certificates. Train sales personnel & internal/external customers on how product sustainability initiatives apply to LEED & other green building rating systems. Keep up with developments in the green building sector to address future business needs.
Collect & document environmental & sustainability data to grow the sustainability presence of the companys global organization. Serve as foundational support to sustainability product strategy. Execute tactical initiatives to engage employees & strengthen brand.
Lead sustainable product certifications through engineering process to accommodate customer demands. Understand & manage building construction process to manage Scope 3 demands from customers. Engage with architects & general contractors on sustainability.
Assist sales reps as elevator sustainability subject matter engineering expert. Understand life cycle differences between hydraulic & traction elevator product lines. Work with manufacturing to implement environmental goals including energy efficiency goals & carbon targets.
Develop road map for elevator manufacturing facility to achieve renewable energy & energy efficiency/carbon emissions goals. Be responsible for NAs reporting to the GBU for the Corporate Sustainability Report based on GRI. Represent NA BU on global life cycle analysis product discussions.
Work on industry benchmarking for elevator EPDs. Work with elevator field branch offices to implement total waste management plan for 90% waste diversion goal, with clear understanding of elevator branch office waste & job-site waste. Work with elevator field offices & vendors to develop returnable/reusable packaging program.
Work with branch offices to develop environmental management policies & plans regarding transport, hauling, containment, & disposal of oils, metals, lubricants, & other elevator parts/equipment. Train branches on environmental policies & audit branches to compliance.
Implement environmental management programs in applicable field offices &/or manufacturing. Respond to customer requests regarding elevator product engineering & sustainability. Integrate sustainability fully into product development roadmaps & planning efforts through engineering for industry leadership.
Identify & prioritize opportunities for sustainability efforts & recommend strategies for proactively addressing relevant sustainability issues. Effectively train sales reps on sustainability as it relates to elevators, including LEED, elevator energy calculations, elevator embodied carbon, & other sustainability topics.
Identify & prioritize opportunities for sustainability efforts & recommend strategies for proactively addressing relevant sustainability issues. Track & analyze sustainability, technology, & innovation trends to identify growth & product opportunities.
Provide recommendations to product development to meet requirements for sustainability. Integrate sustainability fully into product development roadmaps & planning efforts through engineering. Serve as engineering sustainability lead on all engineering projects for new products to drive sustainability market requirements into the design phase & implementation stages.

Drive energy efficiency by tracking energy calculations against ISO 25745. Answer all questions from engineers on elevator product sustainability. Promote accomplishments both internally & externally with internal marketing team.

Minimum Requirements: Must have a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering field. Must have 10 years of experience in elevator operations and elevator product sustainability. Must have experience in reviewing and understanding elevator engineering drawings and Bill of Materials for elevators.
Must have experience with environmental management programs (i.e., ISO 9001, 14001, 14065, and 50001). Must have experience with elevator engineering, technology, sales, and repair to understand business implications of sustainability for elevators.
Must have experience with elevator life cycle assessment. Must have experience in sustainable building design and construction. Must have experience working with suppliers toward lower carbon sourcing strategies. Must have experience working with the elevator field operations developing environmental policies/programs for safe handling and storage of elevator materials and lubricants.
Must have experience in ISO certifications applicable to environmental elevator standards (i.e., ISO 25745, 9001, 14001, 14064, 14065, and 50001). Must have demonstrated knowledge of elevator environmental regulations and renewable energy market options.

Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE.
