Billing Clerk

Rachel Miller at Robert Half is partnering with a client in the Captial District on a Billing Clerk role. This role involves processing paperwork, entering charge data into the billing system, and managing electronic files. The Billing Clerk will also be responsible for coordinating efforts with Billers to maintain accurate system data, verifying insurance information, and contacting self-pay patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and process paperwork from service locations as scheduled.
  • Research information necessary to complete the billing process using available tools.
  • Verify insurance information using insurance carrier web sites or by phone.
  • Contact self-pay patients to inquire about their insurance status.
  • Coordinate with Billers to maintain accurate system data for insurance carriers.
  • Accurately enter patient demographics and case charge data into the billing system.
  • Retrieve and manage electronic files as necessary.
  • Serve as a backup to payment entry staff.
  • Comply with requirements for annual safety, compliance, and confidentiality training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Knowledge of ADP - Financial Services and IBM AS/400.
  • Understanding of Accounting Functions and Billing Functions.
  • Experience in Claim Administration and Collection Processes.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
