Overview:

The Director of Medical Staff Services oversees the day-to-day operations of the Medical Staff Services Department(MSSD) and personnel, this position manages, in conjunction with the Medical Staff leaders, the administrative functions of the Organized Medical Staff (OMS) which include, but are not limited to, all credentialing functions, Bylaws composition and compliance, and Department/Division/Committee functions.

This position supports Medical Staff Officers, Chiefs and Committee Chairs, and acts as a liaison between the Medical Staff, Administration, and hospital Departments. This position provides administrative oversight of the OMS's compliance with accreditation standards and applicable federal and state laws, and partners with hospital and OMS leaders to assure high quality, safe patient care through management of an effective, efficient, credentialing and privileging process.

Responsibilities:

Provides day-to-day management of the Medical Staff Services Department, to include supervision of Medical Staff Services personnel, their work product, time and attendance, utilization of resources and interactions with Medical Staff members and applicants.

Ensures the Credentialing program is in compliance with Medical Staff standards, The Joint Commission, legal and all regulatory and accrediting agency standards. Interprets, explains and follows all related internal and external regulatory guidelines.

Maintains systems to identify and disseminate to others pertinent information regarding Medical/Clinical Staff Members and their clinical privileges.

Serves as a liaison to ensure Medical/Clinical Staff applications, appointments, reappointments, privileges, elevations, proctoring and other credentialing functions are coordinated in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.

Oversees coordination, development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the newly-appointed practitioner orientation process.

Coordinates with the Quality Management Department to ensure facilitation of Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).

Works closely with all Medical Staff Officers, Department and Division Chiefs and committee Chairpersons to organize over 20 standing Medical Staff Department/Division/Committee meetings and functions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required.

Five years of Medical Staff Services in acute hospital setting required.

Three years management experience required.
