Job Description
  • Assess project requirements and determine the necessary resources for specialized and heavy haul transportation needs, ensuring accurate pricing aligned with project scope.
  • Leverage industry networks to identify and develop relationships with carriers specializing in project and heavy haul freight. Foster strong partnerships to position the organization as a leader in the sector.
  • Negotiate carrier agreements and spot rates to meet departmental needs. Dispatch appropriate carriers and oversee shipments to ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Proactively address challenges by identifying potential issues, analyzing solutions, and implementing effective actions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to grow specialized, project, and heavy haul freight services.
  • Manage operational and customer-facing activities with a focus on service excellence and market share growth.
  • Prospect and secure new business by marketing specialized freight services to potential clients.
  • Monitor market trends and evaluate performance within the specialized freight segment to deliver actionable insights to management and customers.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to create tailored transportation solutions for customers and operational teams.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines while supporting overall company goals.

The Successful Applicant
  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications such as CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution) are preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 4+ years of experience in logistics management, with a focus on heavy haul or oversized load transportation.
  • Proven expertise in managing regulated shipments and obtaining permits for heavy haul transportation.
  • Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, heavy haul logistics, and permitting processes.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and fleet management systems.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with specialized equipment transport (e.g., cranes, transformers, wind turbines).
  • Familiarity with cross-border transportation and international shipping regulations.
  • Experience managing logistics for construction, energy, or industrial projects.
