Announcement Information:
This is a part-time position limited to 1,000 hours/year and not eligible for benefits. This position is within the Parks Facilities Maintenance team and reports to Waterford Oaks but may travel in County vehicles to other locations for deliveries or to assist on projects.
General Summary:Under limited supervision, performs manual work required in the general maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment owned or operated by Oakland County Parks and Recreation. Cleans and prepares work sites and cleans machinery, tools, and equipment.
Drives various vehicles used for transporting work crews, materials, and equipment to and from work sites, and performs a variety of park housekeeping and maintenance activities such as grooming beaches, cleaning toilets and showers, mowing grass, greens, and fairways, and grooming snowmobile trails.
May also be responsible to perform the duties of other part-time seasonal employees in various classes when necessary to meet staffing needs. Responsible for proper work procedures and safety practices. May patrol Park areas on foot or by motor vehicles to ensure the orderly and safe use of park facilities and notifies a supervisor of any unusual or emergency situations.
Because of the nature of the services provided by the County parks, employees may be assigned to work at any of the Oakland County parks and may be required to work afternoons, midnights and/or weekends. Must be alert to hazards and follow department safety and emergency procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate; OR have completed the state requirement for a G.E.D. certificate; OR be an emancipated minor; OR have passed their 18th birthday;
- Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.
- Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.
Special Requirements:
- Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur’s license.
- When assigned to Mobile Recreation and operate certain vehicles are required to maintain a United States Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Group "A" and “P” designation with air brakes endorsement.
Pay Range: USD $19.23 - USD $25.05 /Hr.
