Position- Packaging Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Manage new packaging development and initial commercialization to deliver packaging strategy.
- Ensure consistent packaging quality for customers/consumers by regularly monitoring existing packaging.
- Develop detailed packaging specifications to ensure quality and manufacturability of materials for the best value.
- Demonstrate ability to lead and deliver gross margin improvement projects through the optimization of primary, secondary, tertiary package design and logistics efficiency or redesign of components to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and multitask, meeting required deadlines.
- Provide technical support for field issue resolution, packaging performance and cost improvements through proper lab and in-plant testing.
- Qualify new packaging manufacturers, domestic and international, for cost savings opportunities through evaluation of pricing, logistics, food safety guarantee documentations and quality of packaging.
- Support building mid to long term packaging innovation roadmap by creating unique packaging ideas.
- Work with cross-functional teams as well as with external vendors and manufacturing facilities.
- Work with outside agencies (equipment vendors and packaging solution agencies) for sampling, printing, packaging manufacturing and technical spec. approval.
- Communicate with headquarter packaging center to share current activities.

Position located in Brooklyn, NY office, some traveling to our nearby manufacturing plants in Robbinsville, NJ / Columbus, OH and other affiliated companies in US

Qualifications/Skills:
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering field (Packaging, Food science, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- Desired: Master’s degree in Science or Engineering field (Packaging, Food science, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- Related Work Experience:
- At least 3+ years of food packaging engineering experience, CPG industry experience preferred
- Must be experienced with a regulated production environment (Food/Health Care) and automated packaging lines
- Experience with materials/converting methods, including corrugated containers, folding cartons, and flexible films
- Experience with testing and validating packaging through ASTM and ISTA standard testing method
- Proficient in packaging software program (palletizing program) such as CAPE or TOPS
- Experienced with trouble shooting and problem solving packaging issues
- Language Skills: Bi-lingual (English and Chinese) preferred
- Other Required Skills: Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Other Desired Skills:
- Strong self-leadership skills
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills; able to develop strong relationships with internal and external parties
- Good knowledge and familiarity with Korean, Asian foods a strong plus
- Flexibility to work in a resource-challenged, environment
- Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
