Providing compassionate care to the children, teenagers and young adults of Central Florida for more than 30 years, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is located on the downtown Orlando campus and includes 156 licensed beds for specialized care for children as well as the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, offering trauma care for children as the pediatric site of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center.State-of-the-art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The hospital also has earned national recognition for 12 consecutive years as a “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report and was included, together with Orlando Health ORMC, in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021.
Position SummaryArnold Palmer Hospital for Children Echocariology Department is seeking a Echo/Vascular Sonographer. Graduate of an accredited school of sonography. Depending on assigned department, meets education/training as required under
established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular CredentialingInternational (CCI) guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions- Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and
- Performs routine assignments using existing procedure guidelines.
- Receives instruction, guidance, and direction from more senior level sonographers.
- Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations.
- Has conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within the job.
- Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and
- Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.

- Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
- Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately

- Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.

- Participates in supervising student sonographers, orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, and participates in
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Assist in transporting of patients.
- Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
- Assists in clerical duties, such as, but not limited to, printing reports, scanning documents, and scheduling of patients.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
- Maintains well stocked and organized work areas.
- May be required to work at any Orlando Health facility.
- Assists with other departmental duties and responsibilities as needed.
- May be required to work afterhours and call shifts as needed.
- May be required to assist with contrast administration if pertinent to department.
- May be required to assist with intravenous (IV) insertion and removal for the administration of diagnostic contrast medication if
pertinent to department.
Qualifications:
Licensure/Certification- Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
- Must maintain one of the following:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in fetal echocardiography; or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); or • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or
- Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
