Overview:
The Electrophysiology (EP) Lab Registered Nurse demonstrates excellent customer service performance and supports a work environment in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare, and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
The EP Lab RN uses the nursing process, develops a plan of nursing care and then coordinates and delivers care to patients undergoing EP, cardiac rhythm management (CRM) and structural heart procedures. EP Lab nurses have the requisite skills and knowledge to assess, plan, intervene and evaluate the outcomes of interventions.The EP Lab RN addresses the physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual responses of their patients. The EP Lab RN is concerned with patient safety as well as physiological and behavioral responses throughout the EP experience. The EP Lab RN works under the supervision of the Manager/Coordinator and Electrophysiologist.
The EP Lab RN must possess excellent computer and organizational skills. The EP Lab RN is responsible and accountable for assisting the patient to move as rapidly, uneventfully, safely and effectively as possible through their procedure, identifying problems and potential problems, and reporting them to the physician.
The EP Lab RN must be able to assess and care for adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. The EP Lab RN performs other duties as assigned.

Monitors patient hemodynamic data during procedures.
Documents patient data to ensure continuity in the provision and coordination of patient care.
Effectively communicates patient care needs / expectations / priorities with team members.
Acts as a resource / educator for team members.
Collaborates effectively with patient care units to facilitate safe patient outcomes.
Documents on all hospital and department records as required.
Serves as a mentor for other nurses.
Performs departmental projects as required.
Attends and participates in unit meetings.
Adheres to unit / departmental policies, procedures and unit structure standards.
Functions as a responsible team member.
Maintains confidentiality in relation to patients, families, and the organization.
Appropriately represents Covenant HealthCare by promoting a positive image to the departments, medical staff, leadership and outside constituents.
Maintains professional standards by actively participating in continuing education activities, patient outcome activities, and inservices related to area of practice and ages of patient populations.
Contributes to organization success targets for patient satisfaction and net operating margin.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Nursing Degree (AND, Diploma, BSN) from an accredited school of nursing
License to practice professional nursing (RN) in the State of Michigan ACLS required BLS required
Previous critical care experience and EP/Cath Lab experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Demonstrates appropriate care for the following age groups: Adolescent, adult and geriatric
Demonstrates principles of aseptic practice in all situations
Demonstrates knowledge in cardiac and interventional procedures
Demonstrates ability to perform hemodynamic monitoring
Excellent computer skills
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families and co-workers
Demonstrates an awareness of and assumes self-responsibility for working within the scope of the EP Lab RN role
Demonstrates the ability to remain calm during crisis situations
Demonstrates the ability to problem-solve and prioritize unit needs independently, efficiently and effectively
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
