A national medical device and aerospace manufacturer that continues to grow and dominate new and existing markets. They are looking to expand across the Northeast as their Massachusetts facility will be up 15% at the end of the year in revenue and continuing to add head count.

Job Description

The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Research and apply new manufacturing techniques to improve how orthopedic implants and instruments are made, ensuring the latest technologies are used.
  • Create and update CNC programs, design fixtures, and develop setup sheets, including details on part holding, speeds, feeds, and tooling. Test and validate programs before production begins.
  • Support machine setup and oversee initial production runs to ensure the first batch meets quality standards, addressing any issues along the way.
  • Manage and order special tools needed for production, ensuring they arrive on time to prevent delays, and optimize tool life for longer machine runtime.
  • Prepare and review product and process documentation, including engineering change requests, while participating in meetings to identify design improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced engineers, contribute to design-for-manufacturing reviews, and ensure safety protocols and work area cleanliness are maintained.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Manufacturing Process Engineer will have what follows:

  • Skilled at running multiple CNC machines, like EDM, Lathe, Mill, and Swiss.
  • Experienced with 3D CAD and CAM programming.
  • Comfortable using tools like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to check part dimensions.
  • Good with math, blueprints, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office and internet use.
  • Works well in a team and communicates clearly, both in writing and speaking.
