Buyer Specialist
A well-established and growing manufacturing company in the Quad Cities Area is looking to add a Buyer to their team. This person will need to have great communication skills and negotiating skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing Suppliers:
Identify potential suppliers and conduct thorough research to evaluate their capabilities, reliability, and performance history.
Build and maintain a database of approved suppliers.
Negotiating Contracts:
Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
Secure favorable agreements that align with the company's budget and quality requirements.
Order Placement:
Create and issue purchase orders for required goods or services.
Ensure accurate and timely order placement to meet production or operational needs.
Cost Analysis:
Analyze costs associated with procurement, identify cost-saving opportunities, and make data-driven purchasing decisions.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels without excess or shortages.
Collaborate with inventory control teams to manage inventory efficiently.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration and resolve issues promptly.
Evaluate supplier performance and provide feedback for improvement.
Market Research:
Stay updated on market trends, industry developments, and new product offerings.
Recommend innovative sourcing strategies to remain competitive.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure purchased products or services meet quality standards and specifications.
Collaborate with quality control teams to address any quality-related issues.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, such as supply disruptions or quality issues.
Develop contingency plans to manage risks effectively.
Budget Management:
Work within budget constraints and make purchasing decisions that align with financial goals.
Monitor and report on budget utilization related to procurement activities.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline) or 5+ years of experience
Proven experience as a buyer or in a related procurement role
Manufacturing experience preferred
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
Analytical thinking and cost analysis capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance standards
