Staff Accountant

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Detroit, Michigan. This role involves a variety of accounting functions within the educational sector, and will require you to manage customer applications, maintain accurate records, and resolve inquiries effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate and efficient processing of customer credit applications.
• Maintain precise records of customer credit.
• Perform regular reconciliation of District Bank Statements.
• Maintain the general ledger in accordance with Governmental Fund Accounting principles.
• Conduct regular analysis and reconciliation of general ledger expenditure accounts.
• Prepare necessary documents for the District’s Annual Financial Audit.
• Create timely reports for various agencies as required by law or school authorizer.
• Oversee the authorization of expenditure vouchers.
• Monitor purchase requisitions closely.
• Manage the daily cash flows of the Academy effectively.
• Provide accounting services crucial to the preparation of the budget.
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience in conducting Bank Reconciliations
• Skilled in managing General Ledger
• Ability to prepare and record Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Experience in Grant Accounting
• Familiarity with Fund Accounting in a Non-Profit context
