The Role:
This position serves as a critical bridge between the client's actuarial/underwriting teams and the technical implementation teams. The role combines deep P&C insurance domain expertise with strong analytical and technical skills, focusing specifically on insurance rating structures, pricing models, and data management.As a BA, you will collaborate with insurance carriers to understand their complex rating methodologies, regulatory requirements, and data needs while translating these into actionable technical specifications for the implementation team. This role is essential for ensuring accurate rating calculations and data integrity throughout the policy administration system implementation.

This role includes:
- Analyzing and documenting complex P&C insurance rating structures, algorithms, and data requirements while translating these into technical specifications for implementation teams
- Experience implementing and testing rating within Socotra, Guidewire or EIS policy admins systems
- Leading detailed requirements gathering sessions with actuarial/underwriting teams to understand rating methodologies, factor tables, and regulatory requirements
- Performing gap analysis between existing rating models and new system capabilities while coordinating with configuration and data migration teams to ensure accurate implementation
Job Functions:
- Lead detailed requirements gathering sessions with client stakeholders, focusing on rating algorithms, factor tables, and data requirements for various lines of business
- Analyze and document complex rating structures, including base rates, rating factors, discounts, surcharges, and experience rating modifications
- Create comprehensive business requirement documents (BRDs) and functional specifications for rating engine configurations and data structures
- Perform gap analysis between client's existing rating models and new system capabilities, providing solutions for identified gaps
- Design and validate data mapping specifications for rating-related information, ensuring accurate data translation from legacy systems
- Work closely with configuration teams to ensure precise implementation of rating rules and calculations in the policy administration system
- Develop test scenarios and acceptance criteria for rating validations, supporting UAT teams in testing complex rating scenarios
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for rating configurations and data structures
- Conduct impact analysis for rating changes, system upgrades, and regulatory updates
- Lead workshops with actuarial teams to understand rate filing requirements and ensure system compliance
- Coordinate with data migration teams to ensure rating-related historical data is accurately mapped and migrated
- Troubleshoot rating calculation issues during implementation and post-production phases
- Provide expertise on state-specific rating requirements and regulatory compliance needs
- Partner with integration teams to ensure proper handling of rating data in system interfaces
Compensation and Benefits
Our firm offers competitive base compensation, benefits package, and a discretionary employee bonus program for eligible employees based on individual and firm performance metrics per the defined program guidelines. For individuals hired to work in New York, the expected salary range for this role is $104,500 to $182,500; the actual salary offer can vary based upon employee qualifications.

Compensation: In addition to competitive base compensation, our firm offers annual discretionary bonuses based on firm and individual performance and other forms of discretionary compensation that would be offered to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range scale.
The Requirements:
Required Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of SQL and data modeling concepts- Proficiency in Excel for rating analysis and validation
- Experience with business process modeling tools
- Familiarity with API concepts and integration patterns
- Knowledge of version control systems and documentation tools
Required Insurance Domain Knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years of P&C insurance experience, particularly in personal or commercial lines rating
- Experience implementing Socotra, Guidewire or EIS policy administration systems and its components
- Deep understanding of insurance rating concepts including territory rating, experience rating, and schedule rating
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting insurance rating
- Familiarity with ISO rating structures and forms
- Understanding of insurance data standards (ACORD)
