Staff Accountant (Construction Industry) - Robert Half

We are in search of a Staff Accountant for a construction company in Solana Beach. This role is a growth role for those with 1-2 years of full-cycle experience with an accounting degree.

You will have the opportunity to learn multiple aspects of construction accounting and be considered for a leadership opportunity in the future to build a team.

Here are the experience you will gain:

• Track, analyze, and report on all project costs (labor, materials, subcontracts, etc.), comparing budget vs. actuals and forecasting.
• Accurately recognize project revenue and analyze project profitability, identifying areas for improvement.
• Prepare and distribute regular job cost reports to project managers and management.
• Manage project-related A/P (vendor payments) and A/R (client invoicing and collections).
• Track subcontractor costs, ensure contract compliance, and process payments.
• Track and account for change orders, ensuring proper documentation and cost adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and assist with audits.
• Work with project managers on cost control, attend meetings, and review contracts.
• Manage the financial closeout of projects, including final cost reconciliation.
• Utilize relevant software and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Experience we are looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable.
• Exposure with supporting month-end close process.
• Currently working in a construction/ engineering industry environment.
• Ability to work fully onsite in the Del Mar area.
