Hardware/Electrical Engineer

In the role of Hardware/Electrical/Electro-Optical Design Engineer, the candidate's primary responsibilities will be the design of mixed (digital and analogue) electronic hardware circuits for various on-going aerospace Projects. In this role the candidate will develop and maintain strong relationships with partners, suppliers and cross-functionally.
Additionally, the candidate will also be responsible for working with Systems, Mechanical and Software design groups to develop and document complex electrical / electro-optical system requirements, design documentation including reviewing partner/supplier proposals to ensure fully compliant solutions are developed.

In this role, the candidate will leverage his/her experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals in a project planning and control environment.

Duties & Responsibilities: Generation of Electrical Hardware and/or Electro-Optical requirements documentation for an assigned electrical hardware subsystem. Knowledge of lighting products (LEDs, Incandescent lighting) used in Commercial & Military Airborne Control Panels in accordance with design & construction governed by MIL-DTL-7788 will be a strong asset.
Generation of schematics, BOMs, PCB design and fabrication documentation. Generation of documentation package for the assigned hardware subsystem in support of design reviews. Unit testing of the hardware subsystem. Integration testing of the hardware subsystem in the product.
Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to debug and identify design issues. Participate in activities such as investigation & resolution of service difficulty reports, failure investigations, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions, document lessons learned and subsequently update design standards.
Work closely with Business Development and Proposal Leaders to ensure sound technical solutions are offered to customers. Generate detailed unit & system level test documentation (i.e HW requirements, test plans & procedures, hardware design documentation).

Research technology advancements for potential application to company business needs and make recommendations for technology investments and R&D.

Qualification / Education Requirements: Bachelor degree in Electronics/Electrical or Electro-Optical Engineering (or equivalent). Cross functional skillset in software, VHDL or alternate engineering disciplines will provide a strong asset to this position.
