Memorial Blood Centers (MBC.ORG), a division of Innovative Blood Resources (www.innovativebloodresources.org), has been saving and sustaining lives since 1948. We supply blood and blood components, state-of-the-art laboratory services, and biomedical expertise to area healthcare partners, national blood centers, biotechnology companies, research institutions, and international clients.

Operating 10 donor centers and conducting hundreds of blood drives each month, we are proud to be an independent nonprofit that supplies over 30 area hospitals and more than a dozen air ambulances with life-saving blood—from our community, for our community.

Responsibilities:

Summary:

This person ensures the overall maintenance and operational functionality of Memorial Blood Center’s fleet of buses, trucks, and vans, as well as light facilities support. Operates out of Memorial Blood Center’s St. Paul garage, with occasional travel to Duluth.

Routine collaboration with Facilities and Collections Departments.

Schedule: Typical schedule Monday - Friday at 6am - 2:30pm or 9am - 5:30pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide vehicle maintenance support for all vehicles including diesel engine buses
  • Maintain a maintenance schedule and ensure completion of the various maintenance/repair needs of MBC vehicles, including but not limited to, oil changes, repairs, tune-ups, body work and washing/detailing
  • Maintain documentation of repairs
  • Maintain inventory of parts, supplies, and tools
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop
  • Perform interior repairs on vehicles, including storage cabinets, seats, doors, and equipment mounting hardware
  • Ensure vehicles display the proper licensing and tabs
  • Obtain quotes from 3rd-party mechanic for larger installations/repairs as needed
  • Provide driving support to and from 3rd-party mechanic for repair
  • Light facilities maintenance at sites
  • Participates in annual required job training.
  • Adheres to company driver’s policies when operating company vehicles.

The hourly rate for this position is between $27 - $30.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

2 years of related experience in vehicle and facility maintenance.

Automotive mechanic experience of at least 1 year or current enrollment in an automotive program

Other:

Valid Driver’s License.

Able to lift up to 50lbs.

DOT medical card or ability to pass a DOT physical

Preferred – 2-year degree from a vocational school for mechanics

Preferred - ASE Certification.

Preferred - Commercial driver’s license (CDL- Class B with airbrakes or Class A).
