Description:

Compass Point is seeking a Systems Administrator I to join our team supporting USSOCOM. In this role, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the stability and efficiency of the Government’s IT infrastructure, requiring strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, alongside comprehensive technical knowledge of Government hardware and software systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, update, and maintain operating system software, including patches and upgrades.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Configure, optimize, fine-tune, and monitor both system software and hardware components.
  • Perform system backups and recovery to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Build and configure servers, addressing issues related to Horizon VDI components.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for managing the VDI environment.
  • Provide support for systems hosting complex operational databases, including software configuration control and system interfaces.
  • Maintain file servers and control network access; document and troubleshoot system issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist with basic Identity Management tasks, such as AD/GAL synchronization and directory services (DNS, GPO, AADC, ADFS, DFS, Domains and Trusts, Sites and Services, and Role-Based Access Control).
  • Support Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) operations by managing and troubleshooting digital certificates and public-key encryption.
  • Monitor and control mid-range application servers, setting up and managing system operations as per operating instructions.
  • Continuously observe applications and storage devices to detect potential hardware or software issues.
  • Follow procedures to maintain operations during system malfunctions, minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering or application programming teams to address and resolve issues requiring adjustments in instructions.
  • Maintain detailed records of machine performance and production metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM related field or three to five years’ experience in Windows Server administration.
  • Three years’ experience with network protocols - DNS, DHCP, TCP, UDP, SSH, FTP.
  • Must have DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
  • Knowledge of server hardware, systems components, capacity, and systems performance management.
  • Proficient with Windows Server 2016 and later.
  • Basic knowledge of VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Experience administering Microsoft SCCM/Intune and Hybrid endpoint management.
  • Proficient with Windows 10 and later Windows operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux.
  • Familiarity with the latest versions of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Professional, dependable attitude that is oriented towards customers, and a cooperative and positive spirit in working with other team members.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Be physically capable of lifting 50 Lbs.
