Network Engineer
Overview:
Abile Group has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Network Engineer supporting an Intelligence Community Customer.
The right candidate will possess the below skills and qualifications and be ready to handle all responsibilities independently and professionally.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and analyzes the existing network architecture and provide designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies
- Recommends best practices such as SDN, Intent-based networking, and network segmentation protocols, etc., in order to improve the existing architecture and meet new networking requirements
- Designs telecommunications circuit specifications
- Identifies the need for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services
- Delivers service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructure-as -Code
- Develops and maintains network architecture specifications and artifacts
- Designs, optimizes, and troubleshoots LAN, WAN and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Conducts testing of network design.
- Monitors network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
- Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
- Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Qualifications:
Clearance Required: TS/SCI
Degree and Years of Experience: Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD, 4 years of additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree- Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware including: routers, switches, firewalls, unified communications equipment
Required Certifications:
- Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III
Desired Certifications:
- Professional certification in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in VMware environments
- Proven experience in virtual and physical Internet Protocol and Fiber Channel networks and routing protocols
- Proven experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors
