We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Systems Administrator in the Health Pharm/Biotech industry. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this role involves addressing technical issues in Linux/AWS environments, and working closely with scientific teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain and improve systems running on Linux, including CentOS, Ubuntu, and Amazon Linux.
  • Collaborate with scientific teams to manage maintenance schedules.
  • Enhance the functionality and efficiency of systems in the Amazon environment.
  • Contribute technical expertise in business partnering activities.
  • Communicate effectively with scientists about their infrastructure, including GPUs and high-powered workstations used for data processing and analysis.
  • Manage data transfers between local systems and AWS, ensuring seamless connectivity.
  • Handle the administration of infrastructure in Amazon, including clusters and servers used for heavy computation.
  • If possible, automate data processes and workflows using scripting to enhance efficiency.
  • Proactively address technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to the work of the scientific teams. • Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Possess strong experience in system administration, specifically for Unix-based environments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Linux system administration, including CentOS Linux and Enterprise Linux.
  • Show competence in managing and troubleshooting Unix systems.
  • Be well-versed with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud-based system management.
  • Have a solid understanding of various Linux technologies and their applications.
  • Be able to effectively manage and maintain the overall health of the system.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues.
  • Have excellent communication skills to effectively interact with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Be willing to continuously update knowledge on new technologies and systems.
  • Show a commitment to maintaining system security and data privacy.
