2025 Groton SHIP Summer High School Intern Program - Design
Overview:
General Dynamics Electric Boat is excited to offer an 8-week paid internship for high school students enrolled in Drafting and Design programs. This unique opportunity allows students to gain hands-on experience and technical knowledge while contributing to critical projects within the shipbuilding industry.
Program Highlights:
Mentorship: Interns will work under the guidance of experienced mentors in their respective departments and unions.Hands-On Experience: Interns will actively apply technical skills while learning about Electric Boat’s shipbuilding processes.
Professional Exposure: Opportunities to observe production and interact with seasoned employees in a collaborative environment.

This internship is located in New London, Groton, or Stonington, CT and interns will be enrolled in the union during their employment.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Must have completed junior year of high school.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Demonstrated proficiency in drafting (portfolio) with Computer Aided Design (CAD) is required (Autocad/CATIA/NX preferred) for design students.
- Interns will become employees of Electric Boat and union members for the duration of their summer internship.
- Must meet Electric Boat employment requirements, including medical screening and a hair follicle drug test.
- Must be available to work eight consecutive weeks; June 30, 2025 - August 22, 2025.
