Healthcare Reimbursement Manager

BerryDunn is on the lookout for an experienced Healthcare Reimbursement Manager to join our dynamic Healthcare Practice Group. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to impact the financial health of hospitals and health systems by leveraging your expertise in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
You'll work closely with our clients, leading efforts to maximize their reimbursement potential, while also providing education and guidance through various channels. This position is planned to sit in our Portland, ME, or Waltham, MA office locations or remotely to support client work.

You Will:

  • Design, review, and audit interim and year-end third-party settlement estimates for hospitals and health systems with a variety of provider types and reimbursement methodologies
  • Prepare and review Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, primarily for hospitals and health systems
  • Facilitate and evaluate results of fiscal intermediary audits impacting hospitals, including wage index, occupational mix, disproportionate share audits, Medicare bad debt reporting, etc.
  • Perform analysis of financial and operational data to identify opportunities to optimize reimbursement, project the impact of reimbursement changes and/or for program eligibility determination
  • Provide education for clients and BerryDunn staff on various reimbursement topics through live presentations, blogs, and whitepapers

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college/university
  • Knowledge and understanding of Medicare payment regulations, including prospective payment systems and cost-based reimbursement
  • Familiarity with various state reimbursement regulations and cost reporting
  • Ability to perform and interpret research of respective regulations
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data to identify opportunities to optimize reimbursement for clients
  • MBA, MPH, MHA or other graduate level master’s degree a plus
  • Strong customer service focus
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office suite products; data management and data analysis skills preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Previous experience working at a hospital as a reimbursement analyst is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

Compensation Details:

The base salary range targeted for this role is $110,000 - $135,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
