Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages of diverse population from newborn to geriatric population using appropriate vein-puncture and skin puncture techniques. Accessions requests and processes specimens for testing or referral to outside reference

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Possesses knowledge and skill necessary to safely and professionally collect venous and capillary blood specimens from patients of all age groups.
  • Provides accurate timely processing of clinical specimens, preferably in multiple laboratory disciplines.
  • Good judgment and problem solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills in English, a knowledge of basic medical terminology and ability to follow technical direction.
  • Hospital Mandatory Education Requirements: Orientation, Environment of Care, OSHA, Infection Control, Abuse/Neglect, and Ethics. Tuberculosis Screening, Licensure renewal,.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
