As part of Encore’s Talent, Culture, and People team, the Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in supporting our mission by ensuring our HR operations run smoothly. You’ll manage everything from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between, creating a positive employee experience and providing vital HR support.

You’ll be the go-to person for Employee Relations, Benefits Administration, Compliance, Leave Management (including Workers’ Comp), and more. This role will be primarily in-office at our Pawtucket, RI headquarters.

What You’ll Do:

  • Onboarding:
  • Lead new hires through the onboarding process, making sure they feel welcome and aligned with our company culture.
  • Prepare all the new hire paperwork and enter new employees into our systems.
  • Handle any onboarding-related questions or tasks that pop up.
  • Employee Relations:
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees on HR-related inquiries.
  • Address employee concerns, mediate disputes, and assist in resolving conflicts while promoting a positive work environment.
  • Benefits Administration:
  • Administer employee benefits programs such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Assist employees with benefit-related questions and help them navigate the enrollment process.
  • Coordinate open enrollment sessions and manage relationships with external benefit vendors.
  • Monthly billing review to ensure alignment between insurance carriers and internal data.
  • Compliance and Recordkeeping:
  • Ensure we’re compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ACA).
  • Maintain and update employee records, both physical and digital, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with audits, compliance reports, and government filings (like EEOC, Department of Labor, Census reports, and any state-specific filings).
  • Handle employee verification notices.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Support workplace safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Manage worker’s compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Offboarding:
  • Manage the offboarding process for departing employees and any related administrative tasks.
  • Ensure all necessary offboarding documentation is completed, including final paychecks, benefits termination, and severance packages when applicable.
  • Collaborate with IT, payroll, and other departments to ensure a seamless transition, including disabling access to company systems and retrieving company property.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Solid understanding of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Top-notch people skills—communication and relationship-building are your strong suits.
  • Construction experience a plus!
  • Experience with OSHA management at both state and federal levels? That’s a big plus!
  • Problem-solving ability and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude are a must.
  • Above average proficiency with technology. Walking in the door, you must know Microsoft Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel above all others) beyond that, we need someone with a verifiable ability to self-teach other new and emerging platforms.
  • Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems is a must.
