Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence:

  • Develop, implement, and analyze methodologies to boost factory efficiency and reliability.
  • Drive a robust Maintenance Excellence Program to enhance asset utilization and reduce costs.
  • Minimize line downtime by supporting process and technical improvements, ensuring sustained equipment reliability.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Lead and promote the plant’s Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) program, fostering a culture of safety and prevention.
  • Ensure all maintenance projects comply with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Act as a key member of the incident command team, responding to and directing emergency response activities.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Implement a comprehensive 5S Program to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis studies to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM principles to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Manage and develop the maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Provide technical training in TPM, safety protocols (e.g., LOTO, 6S), and other relevant topics.
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration within the maintenance team and across departments.

Technical Expertise:

  • Offer technical and operational support for plant infrastructure maintenance and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of packaging equipment and integrated systems, ensuring optimal operation and quality.
  • Provide interpretations of OSHA, NFPA, DHS, DOT, and other relevant regulations to maintain compliance.

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align safety and maintenance objectives with overall business goals.
  • Develop and track site safety business plans, analyzing data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Assist corporate engineering with the development and implementation of capital projects.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the food industry, with a focus on maintenance and technical operations.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance management systems, preventative and predictive maintenance, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Proficient in standard software applications and maintenance management systems.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong mathematical, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of BBS and EAS regulations to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • Expertise in packaging equipment and integrated systems, including fault diagnosis and corrective actions.
  • Certifications such as CMRP, Six Sigma, and Lean are highly preferred.
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English) are a plus.
  • Knowledge of health and safety disciplines related to food processing is preferred.
