The IT Project Manager, Technical is responsible for simultaneously executing multiple technical projects across a wide range of customer groups and project types as part of the Digital Technology Services (DTS) Project Management Office (PMO) across the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network.
Utilizing technical knowledge in areas such as networking, hardware, and servers along with the understanding of general clinician workflows, assesses business and technical requirements of projects and coordinates across multiple DTS teams to develop and deliver the solution ensuring that HMH standards are followed or introducing new technologies when appropriate.
Responsible for the planning, oversight, and documentation of all aspects of the project lifecycle. Will work closely with leadership to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule, as well as other departments and the project team for support.

Advises leadership on technology solutions to meet business requirements including new and emerging technologies. Serves as a mentor to other Project Managers, Team Leaders, and Resource Managers. Accountable to Program and/or Portfolio Manager(s) for project statuses for relevant customer group(s).

Position requires Up to 50% on-site at any HMH location

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a IT Project Manager, Technical at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Lead and manage end-to-end technical projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DTS, clinical, and administrative departments, to define the technical project scope, objectives, and deliverables; involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring alignment and technical feasibility.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, technical system specifications, timelines, and budgets, and communicate project status to stakeholders regularly.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing issues to keep projects on track.
  • Work closely with Facilities Engineering, external contractors, and internal technical teams to ensure alignment of hardware and software technology options with project goals and effective utilization of resources.
  • Manage implementation of the design, support, audit, and management of applicable infrastructure.
  • Participate in planning meetings with vendors and key stakeholders to understand and respond to infrastructure impact.
  • Evaluate project outcomes against established goals, seeking continuous improvement in project management processes.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of projects to be completed on time, within budget, and within scope.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification/change management techniques.
  • Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders and communicate effectively to management and team members.
  • Schedule and supervise the task execution of engineers and technicians assigned to the projects.
  • Perform risk and issue management to minimize project risks and issues.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Create technical diagrams, hardware and software specifications, and process flows.
  • Adhere to Project Management Office methodology including all gates associated with typical software development lifecycles, including measuring benefits realization during project closure.
  • Keep informed of technical and management advances in IT, Digital Technology, and PMO, including industry best practices.
  • Willing to work hours as dictated by project schedules which may include nights and weekends.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree, which is 4 years added to the experience required in the next bullet making it a minimum of 9 years of IT and healthcare work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Information Technology (IT) and healthcare work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience or equivalent leadership experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years leading technical projects.
  • Most possess the ability to demonstrate technical knowledge in areas such as networking, hardware, and servers.
  • Must possess an understanding of general clinician workflows and use of IT technology to deliver patient care.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge, expertise, and leadership capabilities in project management and systems development methodology.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, training sessions and demos.
  • Ability to communicate to all levels within the organization, including Senior leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid facilitation and organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard productivity and project management tools such as Google Workspace, Asana, ServiceNow, and/or other such tools.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience with Epic Systems, including implementations.
  • Experience with construction/facility expansion projects.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale device deployment projects through the entire project lifecycle.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Project Management Professional or Google Project Management.
