Radiologic technologist ii
This position is responsible for providing patients with diagnostic radiologic testing. This includes the proper management of workflow to ensure that all patients receive the best care possible.
Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)- * Performs radiologic procedures with all x-ray equipment only when requested by a physician. Introduces self to patient and fully explains the exam prior to the start of the exam. Obtains proper patient history, including previous allergic reactions, history of allergies, menstrual history, other information that is appropriate to the patient's safety, as well as necessary clinical information. Positions the patient in the x-ray equipment for each view by using the proper technique (MA, time, KVP) in order to reduce radiation exposure, while using proper shielding, collimation and immobilization devices as indicated for each age specific group.
- Informs and explains to patients the reason for delay of more than 15 minutes from scheduled appointment time.
- Keeps assigned work areas clean and stocked, checks emergency kits, oxygen and suction, reports any low supplies to the tech in charge and replaces any supplies used during a procedure immediately after completing an exam.
- Learns and practices sterile technique when it is required for a procedure, and assists the radiologist during all fluoroscopy and special procedures.
- Learns how to process a patient through the hospital/clinic and radiology information system, and learns how to utilize the PACS system properly.
- Reviews bulletin boards and mail boxes daily for any pertinent information from the hospital and or clinic, new policies, new procedures or any other general information.
- Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.
Qualifications:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Demonstrated clinical competency in the field of radiology.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills required, and strong interpersonal skills a must.
- A high degree of independent action and exercise of judgment is a must, along with a creative ability.
- Ability to work under required deadlines and schedules, while being flexible to handle special requests and projects.
- Ability to multi-task under stressful situations, and ability to professionally handle stressful situations.
- Ability to provide compassionate patient care.
- Must be detailed oriented.
EDUCATION
All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized College or University. Additional education may be substituted for experience requirements should the substitution not conflict with State or Board certification/license requirements.
- Associates Radiology Required
- 2 years Imaging Related Experience Preferred
- Active IN Radiologic Technologist License Required
- ARRT (R) Radiography Registration through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Required
- Basic Life Support Certification Required
