Accounting Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to provide insights into financial performance.
• Maintain the company's chart of accounts and ensure accurate transaction coding.
• Collaborate with the owner to develop, monitor, and update budgets and cash flow forecasts.
• Provide financial forecasts to support strategic business decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and filing requirements.
• Prepare for and coordinate external audits, including providing necessary documentation and reports.
• Process Improvements and Internal Controls:
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to protect the financial integrity of the company.
• Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
• Supervise and mentor one accounting clerk, providing guidance on day-to-day tasks and fostering professional development.
• Delegate tasks effectively and ensure deadlines are met.
• Manage accounting software and perform system updates, if needed.
• Work closely with management to ensure effective use of financial systems for decision-making.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by the owner.
• Maintain vendor and client relationships related to financial transactions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation a plus
• 5+ years of construction accounting experience, with prior leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and tax laws.
• Proficiency in construction accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
