Responsibilities:

Purpose:

Leads and manages the fiscal affairs for the Department of Orthopaedics within the College of Medicine (COM) and its clinical practice plan through The Ohio State University Physicians (OSUP) and the Ohio State University Faculty Group Practice (FGP) in the Office of Health Sciences under the shared direction of the Director of Business Processes and the Department Administrator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Leadership:

  • Participate in Department management/leadership team
  • Engage in strategic planning activities for the Department and practice plan
  • Develop and implement long-term financial plans and objectives

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Direct financial business processes with adherence to internal controls and compliance
  • Develop, implement, and administer annual budgets
  • Oversee and control departmental funds across various categories
  • Analyze and interpret financial reports for research, endowments, and development funds
  • Present financial reports and performance indicators to leadership and members

Policy Development & Process Improvement:

  • Develop, implement, and periodically evaluate department fiscal policies and procedures
  • Evaluate work processes and make recommendations for improvements using lean process improvement principles

Collaboration & Operational Support:

  • Collaborate with OSUP Revenue Cycle on patient revenue activity
  • Collaborate with OSUP Financial Services and Department on financial and operational issues
  • Participate as a member of the OSUP Financial Services management team
  • Conduct work at Department locations and participate in meetings in person when requested

These duties and responsibilities are designed to ensure a comprehensive approach to the financial management role, emphasizing strategic leadership, meticulous financial oversight, continuous improvement, and collaborative engagement.

Additionally:

  • Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems.
  • Travel to satellite locations and clinic sites may be necessary to perform job duties.
  • Attendance, promptness, professionalism, the ability to pay attention to detail, cooperativeness with co-workers and supervisors, and politeness to customers, vendors, and patients.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial statements
  • Experience balancing multiple priorities and working independently
  • Strong team working skills and ability to build productive relationships
  • Experience communicating financial information to various levels of leadership
  • Successful completion of a background check

Preferences:

  • Advanced degree in business, analytics, or related degree
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Experience with Epic revenue cycle functionality and reporting
  • Familiarity with academic medical centers
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Prior experience in project management tools and techniques
  • Prior training in and application of continuous improvement principles

Pay Range: USD $84,031.09 - USD $126,046.63 /Yr.
