Staff Accountant

We are offering a role for a Staff Accountant in New York, New York, United States. This position plays a vital part in our finance department, focusing on payroll and accounting functions. The Staff Accountant will be working in a highly collaborative environment, providing essential support to the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct semi-monthly payroll cycles processing in the ADP portal
• Maintain and update certain information in the ADP portal
• Coordinate with the Human Resources Department for any changes in the payroll
• Oversee weekly timecards entered by staff in the ADP portal, ensuring adherence to our policy
• Address missing timecards and approvals and review overtime
• Handle reconciliation of quarterly and annual payroll tax filings and review year-end W-2’s
• Calculate and record quarterly NY PFL premiums and reconcile to ADP
• Provide support for annual workers' compensation and retirement plan audits
• Reconcile and record FSA transactions and monitor unemployment activity
• Process taxable fringe benefits, such as the computer subsidy and tuition reimbursement program
• Reconcile and monitor various general ledger accounts
• Record quarterly functional allocation reclass entries for benefit costs • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
• Experience with Bank Reconciliations
• Familiarity with General Ledger maintenance and management
• Ability to prepare and manage Journal Entries
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
