Responsibilities:

As a (HPC) Senior Linux Systems Administrator with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following:

  • Manage and optimize Linux-based platforms in an HPC environment, ensuring peak performance and reliability.
  • Support PostgreSQL databases and Google TensorFlow workflows to ensure efficient operations.
  • Implement innovative solutions using tools like Lustre and Bright Cluster to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to ensure system efficiency and data integrity.
  • Plan and implement software and hardware configurations for Linux systems.
  • Develop and test disaster recovery solutions for mission-critical systems.
  • Automate routine tasks using BASH or Python scripting.
  • Optimize and secure containerized environments using Podman/Docker and Ansible.
  • Monitor performance, conduct system upgrades, and ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Implement and maintain secure systems, applying DoD STIGs and configuring SELinux.
  • Configure and manage network file systems (NFS) and log management solutions.
  • Conduct backup procedures, disaster recovery planning, and system performance optimization.
  • Administer data storage systems like Lustre and Bright Cluster, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Support and troubleshoot server environments, responding quickly to interruptions or outages.

Qualifications:

  • Top Secret clearance w/SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
  • Proven experience with VMware vSphere (v7 or higher) and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Proficiency in BASH and Python scripting for automation.
  1. 12 years of IT Systems Administration experience, including:
  • 5-7 years of Linux administration, with expertise in containerization (Podman/Docker), Ansible, and OpenLDAP
  • Ability to configure mount points, add and expand hard disk space, make drives persistent, and implement NFS drives
  • Capable of performing backup procedures using tar and gzip, configuring log management, and analyzing logs
  • Experienced with implementing DoD STIGs, configuring SELinux

Certifications Required:

  • Active DoD 8140 IAT II Level Certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+) REQUIRED
  • Ability to obtain RHCSA certification within 6 months of hire
  • NOTE: Candidates with current RHCSA or RHCE certification may receive priority consideration.
Pay Transparency Statement:
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $110,600.00/Yr. - USD $232,600.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
