Clinical Psychiatrist

On-Call, and Full-time/ Part-Time position in Portland, OR

At Corrections Health, we provide medically needed health care to adults and youth in custody at County Jails and Juvenile Detention Facility. As the CH Psychiatrist you will provide psychiatric services to patients in custody. This position works with the CH Medical Director and CH Director to develop and implement strategic planning, evaluate goals, objectives, priorities and activities for the behavioral health program.

On-Call duties can be carried out by phone, for onsite team outreach and prescription assistance. Flexible schedule, and a great opportunity for a Psychiatrist who is already employed, and wants to offer a few hours a week to provide community support.

Full and Part Time roles are onsite, and schedule can be tailored to meet your needs. Facilities are 24/7.

We work with all types of collaborating physicians in Portland, including entrepreneurs who have extra hours to provide additional support beyond their own practice, and those in contract and salaried positions. Our service provides physician oversight to those practicing in Portland.

Other duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Clinical Care-

Treat adults in custody with mild to severe and persistent mental health illness and disorders. -

Prescribe and dispense medications; initiate and/or continue medical regimens.-

Refer clients to other professionals and agencies within and outside of the Corrections Health System when appropriate. -

Designs client-specific treatment plans including prescribing psychotropic/antipsychotic medications, behavioral intervention, and scheduled reevaluation of client care and medications. -

Respond to in jail emergency situations in the clinic or housing and develop plans of care. -

Provide off-hours consultation by telephone to triage teams as needed.-

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with medical, mental health and corrections staff-

Consultation: Provide expert guidance and leadership on clinical psychiatric and medical issues to clinical staff and supervisors, including meeting with patients to assess clinical needs..-

Analyze and review federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance and conduct analysis on best practices.-

Provide consultation on medication evaluation and management of clients as needed by prescribing medications on consultation with Corrections Health physicians. -

Coordinates with medical health staff to appropriately integrate client care. -

Participates in committees, either internal or external, to represent Corrections Health and the county, as needed. -

May provide training, direction to others, and participate in peer reviews, as needed.-

Documentation: Complete patient documentation and manage electronic in-basket according to established policies and procedures. -

Gather and maintain detailed patient information and records including social and medical history collected from clients and other Corrections Health medical and behavioral health staff.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:

Education/Training/Experience: -

Graduation from an accredited school of Medicine AND -

One (1) year residency as they relate to the assignment is required.

Certification:-

Board Certification in Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology -

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon and ability to obtain credentialing approval.-

DEA License-

CPR Certification

Other-

Must be able to pass a County Sheriff's Office Background Check.-

This position requires a background investigation, which may include being fingerprinted. Employment is contingent on passing a background investigation.-

Salary RangeSalary Range noted here includes the Facilities 5% hourly premium: $9,708.35 - $12,770.26 Semimonthly $233,000.40- $306,486.24 Annually $106-$140 per hour

As a newly hired Psychiatrist you will receive RETENTION BONUSES FOR 3 YEARS!

As a newly hired Psychiatrist you will receive:

$20,000 retention incentive after (1) one year of continuous regular employment.

$20,000 retention incentive after (2) two years of continuous regular employment.

$20,000 retention incentive after (3) three years of continuous regular employment.

All retention incentive bonuses are based on FTE (0.8 FTE and higher will not be prorated) . This retention incentive is taxable, and all regular payroll taxes will be withheld.
