What you'll do:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced System Control Engineer to join our team. In this role, the System Control Engineer will contribute to the design and development of firmware solutions for embedded systems, implement PLC programming solutions, and create HMI for enhanced user experience, ensuring high performance and reliability.

The System Control Engineer will interface with vendor and subcontractors to develop state of the art technology, participate in design review, review/approve test and validation protocols and reports, transfer all documentations, PLC programs, including the PCB Gerber files, to internal ERP/MRP system.

Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain embedded firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors used in our products.
  • Design and implement control logic using PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
  • Create Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for our industrial automation systems.
  • Integrate a wide range of industrial automation solutions, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Understand existing code and generate required design documentation, code changes, test procedures, and test the functionality as implemented.
  • Take responsibility for the development and documentation associated with the project's software systems, encompassing control system electronics hardware, electro-mechanical interfaces, compliance with machine specifications, and adherence to applicable standards.
  • Identify, solve/debug, and report problems in the field for control systems, such as sensors, HMI (Human Machine Interface), servo drives, and PLCs.
  • Develop operation manuals and other pertinent documentation to support end-users and maintenance teams.
  • Utilize design software tools like SolidWorks Electrical, E-Plan, and AutoCAD for design, concept, and layout purposes.
  • Provide support during prototype builds and contribute to product releases into production.
  • Assist with the design, development, testing, and reporting for new product development projects.
  • Interface with vendor to develop state of the art technology, participate in design review, review/approve test and validation protocols and reports, transfer all documentations, PLC programs, including the PCB Gerber files, to internal ERP system.
  • Involvement in wireless communication, integration of IoT wireless networking (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, mesh networks).
  • Lead Firmware design and development projects.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, combined with four plus years of experience in control system implementation.
  • Proven experience in developing embedded firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages and experience with various PLC platforms.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, electrical troubleshooting, and electrical design.
  • Familiarity with design software tools such as SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations, such as UL, IEC 61131, is advantageous.
  • Flexible working hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines and resolve urgent issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Fluency in written and verbal English is a must, Spanish and German are pluses.
  • Manage Projects to achieve results on time, establish work priorities and schedules for completing assignments with minimal supervision and general guidance.
