Marketing Manager

This position is responsible for planning, developing and implementation of all of the organization’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. Position oversees development and implementation of support materials and services in the area of marketing, communications and public relations, and directs the efforts of the marketing, communications and public relations staff and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the organization.

This position reports to the Director of Market Development and has primary working relationships with Product Management, and Senior Management within the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the achievement of marketing/communications/public relations mission, goals and financial objectives
  • Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives and report progress to senior management
  • Develop short and long term plans and budgets for the marketing/communications/public relations program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance
  • Recommend short and long term organization goals and objectives to senior management
  • Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the marketing/communications/public relations function
  • Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, specific to the business of the organization and use this information to help the organization operate with initiative and innovation
  • Managing a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel, including a staff of 5 or more
  • Recruit, train, appraise, supervise, support, develop, promote and guide qualified personnel
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:
  • A comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the organization’s image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications; and,
  • All organization marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, client acquisition and so forth
  • Ensure articulation of organization’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the organization, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external
  • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all organization publications
  • Coordinate media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests
  • Act as the organization’s representative with the media
  • Coordinate the appearance of all Organization print and electronic materials
  • Develop, coordinate and oversee programs, technical assistance and resource material to assist the field in the marketing, communications and positioning of their activities
  • Provide council to field sales on marketing, communications and public relations
  • Ensure that the organization regularly conducts relevant market research and coordinate and oversee this activity; Monitor trends
  • Leads projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, PR and/or advertising - Experience launching products
  • Ability to manage logistics and represent the company well at trade shows
  • Strong project management, organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Former leadership of marketing organizations and vendors
  • Detail oriented and strong team player with excellent interpersonal, listening and oral communications skills
  • Able to work with limited supervision and self directed to achieve program goals required
  • Ability to work well and under deadline pressure
  • Ability to work within fixed budgetary guidelines
  • Ability to negotiate and manage contracts and expenses
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Strong writing skills
  • Must be able to proof and edit copy and layout design
  • Strong PC skills - Experience with MS Office, MAC, and Abode Acrobat
  • Ability to travel up to 25% travel based on trade show schedule
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA -Experience in both business to business marketing -Experience within the commercial/electrical manufacturing industry
