The Fabrication/Shop Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fabrication shop, ensuring that production goals are met efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role requires a hands-on leader with extensive knowledge of metal fabrication, the ability to manage a team, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

o Supervise and lead the shop team, including fabricators, welders, and machinists. Provide direction, training, and support to ensure production schedules are met.

Production Oversight:

o Monitor daily production operations to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Workflow Management:

o Plan and coordinate fabrication schedules, allocate resources, and assign tasks to team members. Monitor work progress and adjust schedules as needed.

Quality Control:

o Ensure all fabrication work meets quality standards. Conduct inspections and audits to ensure accuracy and precision in all work.

Safety Compliance:

o Promote and enforce safety protocols within the shop. Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and safety standards are adhered to.

Collaboration with Engineering/Design:

o Work closely with the design and engineering teams to ensure proper interpretation of blueprints and fabrication drawings. Provide feedback to improve production efficiency.

Inventory & Materials Management:

o Maintain an accurate inventory of raw materials, tools, and supplies. Ensure materials are ordered in a timely manner to meet production needs.

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:

o Identify and resolve issues that may cause delays or reduce production efficiency. Use problem-solving skills to optimize workflows and processes.

Continuous Improvement:

o Implement and promote lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
