Sr. Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team located in East Syracuse, New York. This role primarily involves maintaining and processing financial data, performing various account reconciliations and assisting with audit requests. This is a long-term contract employment opportunity that requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in accounting software.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the creation of journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
• Analyze variances for Profit & Loss and balance sheet changes.
• Prepare various reports such as sales reports, spending reports, and others as needed.
• Support audit requests from government agencies or external audit firms.
• Collaborate with the company's tax consultant to fulfill tax requirements and reporting.
• Assist with processing fixed asset transactions.
• Utilize SAP software for various accounting tasks.
• Implement procedures to improve the accounting process.
• Provide a consultative approach to problem-solving within the accounting department.
• Utilize analytical skills to interpret financial data and trends.
• Must possess skills in Account Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, and Journal Entries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
• Experience with Month End Close processes is required.
• Knowledge of SAP software is essential.
• Previous experience in Audit roles is desirable.
• Familiarity with Government compliance in the accounting sector is necessary.
• Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Proven experience in a senior accounting role is necessary.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills are required.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks is essential.
• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure is necessary.
• Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
• Experience with financial software and reporting systems is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of tax codes and laws is required.
