Department: Med-Surg

Job Responsibilities:

• Escort patients to the surgical chair and screen those awaiting surgery.
• Review medical records to confirm required treatment and ensure chart completeness (e.g., notes, PHM lab results).
• Provide “four-handed” assistance to clinicians during procedures, ensuring smooth workflow.
• Clean and disinfect countertops, mayo stands, and equipment before procedure setup.
• Organize sterile instruments, surgical trays, and necessary equipment for each procedure.
• Take radiographs as requested before, during, or after procedures.
• Restock medical and surgical supplies, maintaining proper inventory levels.
• Assist chair-side with patient monitoring, vitals, suctioning, and instrument/medication passing.
• Ensure proper removal of instruments and disposal of medical waste following procedures.
• Respond effectively to emergency situations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Certification: Dental Assistant Certification & Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years in a surgical assistant role (5 years preferred).
• Proven ability to provide chair-side assistance in various surgical procedures.
• Experience with Eye, ENT, and Plastic Surgery procedures preferred.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in surgical instrument preparation and sterilization.
