Job Description- Logistics Planning & Execution:
- Develop and manage transportation plans for heavy and oversized loads, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Coordinate all aspects of the logistics process, from load scheduling to route planning, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Optimize fleet operations to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all shipments comply with DOT, OSHA, and state regulations governing heavy haul and oversized loads.
- Oversee the acquisition of required permits, escorts, and documentation for regulated shipments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transportation laws and regulations, implementing changes as needed to remain compliant.
- Vendor & Carrier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with third-party carriers, heavy equipment operators, and permitting agencies.
- Negotiate contracts and manage service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure consistent performance.
- Monitor carrier performance to ensure on-time deliveries and adherence to company policies.
- Risk Management & Safety:
- Develop and implement safety protocols to mitigate risks associated with transporting heavy and oversized loads.
- Conduct regular audits of logistics operations to ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Address and resolve any incidents or accidents involving heavy haul shipments.
- Route Planning & Permitting:
- Plan and secure the safest and most efficient routes for heavy haul shipments, considering infrastructure limitations, road conditions, and legal restrictions.
- Manage the permit process, ensuring all shipments have appropriate clearance for oversized loads.
- Coordinate with state and local authorities to ensure smooth transport of regulated shipments.
- Inventory & Asset Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and utilization of transportation assets, ensuring equipment is in compliance and operational.
- Track and manage inventory of heavy haul equipment and associated logistics tools.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of logistics coordinators, drivers, and dispatchers.
- Provide training and guidance to ensure staff adhere to best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the logistics team.

The Successful Applicant- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications such as CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution) are preferred.
- Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in logistics management, with a focus on heavy haul or oversized load transportation.
- Proven expertise in managing regulated shipments and obtaining permits for heavy haul transportation.
