Located in picturesque Washington, CT the Director of Education (Principal) position will be part of a cohesive, passionate and dynamic team.The selected candidate will foster Devereux’s mission and values of quality care as well as providing top-notch and individualized therapeutic care for our students.
Position:
We are seeking a Director of Education (Principal) who has experience with the student population and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with learning differences and mental health/behavioral challenges. If this describes you, then look no further!
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate student academic, motivational and disciplinary activities.
- Administer federal grant program activities
- Create systems that ensure the integrity of educational information and records.
- Program within budgetary constraints.
- Keep the building safe and secure.
- Advance the organization's reputation through participation in professional and foundation groups and committees.
- Follow and promote policies, procedures, and the Code of Character.
- Teacher evaluation and training.
- Coordination of faculty schedules (class schedules, daily assignments, weekend and meal duty.)
- Coordinate coursework, class assignments, progress reviews, and transition plans.
- Schoolhouse proctoring, interventions and contracts.
- Monitoring report cards and transcripts.
- Coordinate state standardized testing
- Conduct building inspections and report needed repairs.
- Fulfill parental, Board of Education, agency, and administrative requests.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in Special Education
- Master’s degree in Leadership and Supervision
- CT 092 Intermediate and Administration and Supervision Certification
- One of the following endorsement areas:
- Comprehensive special education (CT 065 or 165 Certification)
- A specific area of disability
- An area of pupil personnel services (school social work, school psychological services, school speech and hearing services, school guidance and counseling services, and school health services)
