The Residence Manager coordinates, organizes and manages the residence, conveys clear understanding of program and agency philosophy to staff, and promotes appropriate working/living atmosphere within the home. The Residence Manager serves as a role model and advocate, ensures individual safety, oversees proper maintenance and cleanliness of the residence; develops and implements Individual Habilitation Plans, Person Centered Plans and ensures training of adult living skills in a dignified and respectful manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute and convey to staff, agency and program policies and procedures.
  • Train all staff on the philosophy of Person Centered Planning and oversee implementation.
  • Attend and participate in all mandatory trainings and on-going in-service trainings.
  • Successfully complete AMAP certification and administer medications as prescribed by the doctor(s) to the individuals.
  • Successfully complete Tube feeding training for certification (if required)
  • Attend and maintain all required St. Dominic’s Family Services/Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities trainings
  • Coordinate, organize and manage the residence.
  • Manage the home within budgetary guidelines.
  • Manage the finances of the home and the individuals.
  • Orient and train new staff.
  • Coordinate mandatory and on-going in-service trainings for all staff.
  • Conduct staff meetings and individual supervision to obtain pertinent information to meet the needs of the individual(s) and the home.
  • Attend and participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Encourage open communication among the staff.
  • Advocate for the rights of the individuals.
  • Maintain individuals’ specific information in a confidential manner.
  • Provide adequate staff coverage. Provides adequate staff coverage at all times. In the event there is a staffing shortage that is unable to be filled, Manager provides needed coverage.
  • Assist individuals with their Adult Daily Living Skills (ADLS) i.e. bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, washing hair, cutting nails, shaving (as needed).
  • Ensure proper documentation of all required paper work in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implements Individual Habilitation Plans, Person Centered Plans.
  • Provide oversight and feedback to DSP staff based on Core Competencies.
  • Comply with health, safety and sanitation codes.
  • Develop and implement systems to ensure proper day-to-day operation of the home (shift assignments, food, supplies, etc.).
  • Assist in providing a clean, safe and homelike environment in the residence.
  • Assist individuals to select, purchase, launder, mend and prepare appropriate clothing specific to weather, occasion, etc.
  • Transport individuals as needed.
  • Accompany individuals on medical and other appointments as scheduled/needed, providing needed information to medical personnel and relay all information to the appropriate staff in the home/agency.

  • Oversee community inclusion outings of the individual’s choice.
  • Cooperate with staff in all other Developmental Disabilities Programs.
  • Use crisis intervention and calming techniques as needed.
  • Manage, review, approve employee hours worked, and sign up new hires for e-time.
  • Is required to be on call 24/7 when not on duty, will have use of agency cell phone for this purpose.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Skills, Knowledge, Ability)

A valid, non-restricted driver’s license is required for this position.

CULTURAL AND SOCIOECONOMIC CHARACTERISTICS:

Ability to interact with and complete assignments in a manner sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to peers, individuals, families and other employees of the agency.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, and multiplies and divides with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement.

REASONING SKILLS:

Ability to apply common sense and understanding in carrying out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree required. A valid, non-restricted and acceptable driver’s license is required. One (1) year of work experience with the developmentally disabled population is preferred. Two (2) years of supervisory experience in Human Services is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Depending on location SCIP-R (Perform Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention-revised) physical intervention is required.
  • Stair climbing is required (where applicable)
  • Special Demands: Residence Manager should use lifts provided for all lifting. They also need to be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. On occasion, it may be necessary to lift a greater weight, in which case, assistance may be needed.
