Garden Center Sales Manager
A privately owned nursery & greenhouse located near South Bend, IN is seeking a Garden Center Sales Manager This person will manage the retail sales operations and troubleshoot on-site plant (nursery stock, tropical plants, succulents, and water plants) and greenhouse issues.
Responsibilities include:
- Directly managing a retail staff of ten.
- Helping to build out a more knowledgeable, productive staff while increasing productivity through demonstrated plant knowledge and work ethic.
- Using signage and displays incorporating information and current trends to improve the overall look and accessibility of the store.
- Attracting a younger customer base by offering memory-making experiences in addition to quality, affordable flowers.
- Implementing controls for consistent plant care on sales floor.
- Increasing profitability by educating/setting customers up for success with ideas such as enhanced displays, bespoke product offerings, and subscription programs.
This persons accomplishments will be measured in the recruitment, retention, and productivity of staff reporting to them; physical appearance of the store, care and inventory management of nursery stock and plants, front house payroll costs, online feedback, and implementation of the responsibilities outlined above.
The ideal candidate:
- has experience in plant care and retail nursery/greenhouse operations background that includes running a sales area/garden center(link removed)>
- has POS system knowledge (this is key)
- MUST have the ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Candidates with a technical degree in Horticulture are highly desired, but not required.
Compensation:
- Base Salary + Bonus (dependent on individual and company performance.)

$3K stipend for healthcare costs (IRA plan to be offered very soon)
