Senior DOT Compliance Risk Manager, TRC DOT Oversight and Governance
This role will work closely with compliance leads and business partners to identify risks, develop mechanisms and program controls, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies to meet regulatory requirements for Amazon's over-the-road operations worldwide.
The ideal candidate will be an analytical leader who demonstrates high judgment and experience with complex regulatory frameworks and risk assessment methodologies. The individual will have strong communication skills and ability to support cross-functional stakeholder groups across all levels of the organization.The ideal candidate takes initiative in identifying and assessing risks, drives efficiencies across their portfolio, demonstrates ownership in developing and delivering risk mitigation strategies, and remains agile in managing change.
Key job responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive DOT compliance risk assessments across Amazon's transportation programs
- Develop and maintain risk assessment frameworks and mechanisms that support Amazon's motor carrier operating authorities
- Guide senior leadership on risk management concerns and implement mitigation strategies
- Build relationships with internal TRC and transportation business teams to support cross-functional risk assessment and compliance initiatives
- Deliver regulatory guidance and risk analyses to Amazon transportation businesses and internal stakeholders
- Perform readiness reviews on new program launches from a DOT compliance perspective
- Succinctly convey complex risk scenarios and compliance issues using data to support analysis and conclusions
- Apply DOT knowledge and risk assessment methodologies to business planning, escalations, and compliance initiatives
- Conduct risk assessments of transportation operations, external and internal audits, roadside inspections, and compliance programs
- Research relevant government legislation, regulations, and guidance to evaluate regulatory risks and improve program policies
- Support legal, regulatory, and law enforcement inquiries relating to our transportation programs
- Develop standard operating procedures and risk controls to support growth of our compliance program
- Build and maintain risk and compliance metrics, providing written risk assessment reports for compliance and business leaders
- Scale transportation knowledge and risk management techniques cross-functionally through training and development
About the team
Transportation Risk Compliance (TRC) protects all of Amazon’s transportation businesses, implementing scalable risk management solutions to enable business growth. The DOT Oversight and Governance team supports Amazon regulated transportation businesses in managing our motor carrier authority, understanding and evaluating risk, and enhancing our regulatory compliance programs.- 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Master's degree or equivalent
- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
- Experience engaging with regulatory agencies in permit applications or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
