Staff Accountant

Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the real estate field. Relies on information and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.

DUTIES:

• Post and monitor all journal entries booked to the General Ledger in an accurate and timely manner on a monthly basis.
• Assist in closing the General Ledger and record proper accruals in an accurate manner on a monthly basis.
• Prepare bank reconciliations.
• Review invoices for proper coding against budgets. Assist in the posting of AP batches as requested.
• Complete monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and income statements in an accurate and timely manner.
• Prepare and update supporting schedules to the financial statements on a monthly basis, and as requested.
• Work with Accounting Managers to provide outside tax preparers with accounting information (i.e., working papers) as requested for the timely preparation of tax returns.
• Assist in the preparation if accurate and complete audit packages, including, when applicable, complete and accurate responses to external auditor questions or requests for information.
• Undertake other duties from time-to-time assigned by the Accounting manager and Controller.
• Bring any accounting issues to the Accounting Manager’s attention on a timely basis

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of two years’ experience in real estate or construction accounting.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field (business, finance, accounting)
