Overview:

Responsible for providing all departments with decontaminated and/or sterile supplies. Responsible for the preparation, maintenance and coordination of surgical case supplies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provision of decontamination and sterilization equipment.
  2. Monitors inventory and availability of routine and special order supplies.
  3. Maintains smooth functioning of area to compliment OR staff.
  4. Monitors quality testing of sterilizers and instrument loads.
  5. Provides services in a cost effective manner.

  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

High school diploma or equivalent. Some college education and knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Certification in Central Service or previous experience in sterilization is desirable but not required for initial employment. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training required.

Must have a good work and attendance record. Must have keyboard experience and basic computer skills. Must be able to take call, work weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work flexible scheduled hours.

Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.
